Loki (2021)

Loki
tv-14 2 Seasons
Genre Drama, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Cast Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino
Created by Michael Waldron
In yet another Marvel series spinoff from the already expansive film universe, Loki takes the endless possibilities of time from Endgame and runs with them. When the titular trickster god is sent to what is basically time prison for stealing the Tesseract in Endgame, Loki is forced to work with the timekeepers to ‘fix reality’ as they know it. Filled with clever dialogue, some genuinely smart things to say about who Loki is as a character, and a genuinely thrilling climax, Loki is one of the best Marvel shows Disney has made. The second season is set to premiere on October 6, 2023.

America's Funniest Home Videos (1989)

America's Funniest Home Videos
tv-pg 34 Seasons
Genre Comedy, Talk
Created by Vin Di Bona
Are you craving a trip down memory lane? Tired of the constant advertisements on YouTube? Longing for the days when you could relax on your grandmother’s rug and watch hilarious videos? No need to worry. Disney Plus offers the original America’s Funniest Home Videos for your enjoyment. All you need to do is lean back and enjoy the show that arguably kickstarted meme culture.

WandaVision (2021)

WandaVision
tv-14 1 Season
Genre Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Mystery, Drama
Cast Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Kathryn Hahn
Created by Jac Schaeffer
One of the most critically-acclaimed series of 2021, WandaVision has it all. If you’ve seen all of the Avengers movies, then you are likely already familiar with Wanda and Vision — but you have never seen them like this. Set in a series of sitcoms throughout the ages, WandaVision follows the couple as they traverse a televerse where they happen to be the main characters. We don’t want to give away the story any more than that, though, so you’ll just have to watch it.

The Mandalorian (2019)

The Mandalorian
tv-14 3 Seasons
Genre Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Action & Adventure, Drama
Cast Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff
Created by Jon Favreau
One of the biggest draws of Disney Plus is that you can watch all the Star Wars movies online. But The Mandalorian is the first live-action Star Wars series and it has been widely well-received after three seasons. You get to see Pedro Pascal deliver a magnificent performance without ever revealing his face and loads of great Star Wars cameos that fans will truly appreciate. Think of The Mandalorian as a slightly darker, more gritty Star Wars film.

Gargoyles (1994)

Gargoyles
tv-y7 3 Seasons
Genre Animation, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Action & Adventure
Cast Keith David, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Ed Asner
Created by Frank Paur, Greg Weisman
This classic ’90s cartoon isn’t quite like the others of its time. Gargoyles is based in New York City, where a seemingly benevolent billionaire discovers an ancient species that has been locked in stone since the dark ages. Once freed, these Gargoyle-like creatures find they must adapt to NYC nightlife and traverse modern-day struggles and evil plots as they go. One of the most unique things about this cartoon series is how continuous it is. The story develops over time, and you really need to watch it in chronological to appreciate it truly.

Gravity Falls (2012)

Gravity Falls
tv-y7 2 Seasons
Genre Animation, Comedy, Mystery, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Kids
Cast Kristen Schaal, Linda Cardellini, Jason Ritter
Created by Alex Hirsch
This fantastic cartoon series is based in Gravity Falls, Oregon among the rich northwest wilderness. The plot follows twin siblings, Dipper and Mabel Pines, who are spending the summer at their great uncle’s tourist attraction: The Mystery Shack. It’s hard to explain this series fully, but the long and short of it is that Gravity Falls is a seemingly normal place that’s actually filled with magic. It’s also hilariously witty and you’ll enjoy every minute of it.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
tv-pg 7 Seasons
Genre Action & Adventure, Animation, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Cast Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, Ashley Eckstein
Created by George Lucas
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is one of the best things to come out of the early 2000s movies. With Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka Tano as a few of the main characters, this series follows the Jedi Knights as they lead the Grand Army of the Republic against the droid army of separatists. It adds some great depth to the Star Wars universe, so if you think of yourself as a fan, it’s worth binging all 133 episodes.

Darkwing Duck (1991)

Darkwing Duck
tv-g 3 Seasons
Genre Action & Adventure, Animation, Comedy, Family, Kids
Cast Jim Cummings, Christine Cavanaugh, Terence McGovern
Created by Tad Stones
Another 90s cartoon, Darkwing Duck only lasted a couple of years, but it was widely well-received among kids and adults alike. The story follows a bumbling superhero who battles crime with the help of his sidekick — who just so happens to be his daughter and pilot. This unusual duo is constantly running into obstacles of their own creation as they struggle to fight wrong-doers.

Once Upon a Time (2011)

Once Upon a Time
tv-pg 7 Seasons
Genre Drama, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Cast Lana Parrilla, Colin O'Donoghue, Robert Carlyle
Created by Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz
Though it originally ran as a TV series, Once Upon a Time has more than a few elements of a Disney tale. In fact, it has several fairy tales all mixed up into one fantastic show. The story follows a young woman with a troubled past who is uncharacteristically drawn to a small town in Maine. And while this small town is seemingly normal, it of course is actually made up of fairy tale characters locked in a false reality.

The Simpsons (1989)

The Simpsons
tv-pg 35 Seasons
Genre Family, Animation, Comedy
Cast Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright
Created by Matt Groening
What more can really be said about The Simpsons? If you haven’t already watched this amazing adult animated series, then you should. And even if you have already watched it, you should probably watch it again. With over 700 episodes worth of content, you may want to narrow your search to the greatest Simpsons episodes so it doesn’t suck you in and take over your life.

Kim Possible (2002)

Kim Possible
tv-y7 4 Seasons
Genre Animation, Action & Adventure, Comedy, Kids
Cast Christy Carlson Romano, Will Friedle, Nancy Cartwright
Created by Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley
This Disney channel classic hits all the right notes of what a cartoon should be. The story follows a high school cheerleader named Kim Possible who also happens to be a global crime fighter. So naturally, she struggles to balance fighting evil masterminds with the typical challenges of adolescence. With the addition of a bumbling best friend and a naked mole-rat, it’s the perfect balance of action and drama.

Boy Meets World (1993)

Boy Meets World
tv-g 7 Seasons
Genre Drama, Comedy
Cast Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel
Created by Michael Jacobs, April Kelly
Boy Meets World is one of those coming-of-age sitcoms that really helped to define a generation of television. The story follows an adolescent boy named Cory Matthews who does his best to make it through life alongside his two siblings and best friend. The series spans a 7 year period, and you quite literally get to watch the characters grow and adapt to their roles throughout the years.

The Crossover (2023)

The Crossover
tv-pg 1 Season
Genre Drama
Cast Derek Luke, Jalyn Hall, Amir O'Neil
Created by Kwame Alexander
This adaptation of the Kwame Alexander children’s book is an inspirational look at the ways two adolescent siblings manage to play basketball and listen to their family’s strong values off the court. Issues like dating, cancer, going to high school, and finding your voice are all covered in this show.

American Born Chinese (2023)

American Born Chinese
tv-pg 1 Season
Genre Action & Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
Cast Ben Wang, Yann Yann Yeo, Chin Han
Created by Kelvin Yu
Featuring several Academy Award winners, American Born Chinese is a fairly new Disney+ series based on a graphic novel of the same name. The series follows a Chinese-American high school student who gets involved in an earth-shattering battle that involves many of the most well-known figures from Chinese folklore. Featuring some outstanding action and a compelling narrative about the difficulty of marrying your cultural heritage with your own identity, Chinese Born American is an outstanding coming-of-age story.

Star Wars: Andor (2022)

Star Wars: Andor
tv-14 1 Season
Genre Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Action & Adventure, Drama
Cast Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Kyle Soller
Created by Tony Gilroy
The Star Wars TV shows have been up and down in terms of quality ever since The Mandalorian originally debuted, but virtually everyone agrees that Andor is the best of the bunch. Telling the story of Cassian Andor in the days before he became a formal part of the Rebellion, Andor is the kind of thrilling, political TV show that we rarely get on television anymore, whether it’s a Star Wars show or not. Featuring genuinely rousing speeches, some truly sharp direction, and some actual heft behind its performances, Andor is the best Star Wars show by a mile, and maybe the best show on Disney+ period.

Bluey (2018)

Bluey
tv-y 3 Seasons
Genre Animation, Kids
Cast Dave McCormack
Created by Joe Brumm
Perhaps one of the five best children’s television shows ever made, Bluey is an Australian phenomenon about a family of dogs. While the show is ostensibly targeted at people under the age of 10, one of the more remarkable things about Bluey is how much joy adults can get out of watching it. It’s funny, fun, and subtly profound, and every episode is like 10 minutes long. There are plenty of great shows on Disney Plus worth showing your kids, but if you have to pick just one, it should probably be Bluey.

The Beatles: Get Back (2021)

The Beatles: Get Back
tv-14 1 Season
Genre Documentary
Cast John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison
Created by Peter Jackson
A documentary series unlike any other, Get Back uses behind-the-scenes footage of The Beatles preparing for their famous rooftop concert to give us a new understanding of what their relationship was like near the end of the band. The documentary is so well put together and features moments of breathtaking genius from every member of the band. More than that, though, it humanizes these totemic figures, reminding us that these were just four friends who liked making music together, and turned out to be pretty good at it, too.

Behind the Attraction (2021)

Behind the Attraction
tv-pg 2 Seasons
Genre Documentary
Cast Paget Brewster
Created by Brian Volk-Weiss
It may be a little bit too self-promotional for some, but for the Disney park obsessive in your life (trust me, you have one), there are few shows better than Behind the Attraction. The series takes an in-depth look at the stories behind many of the most popular rides at Disney theme parks around the world and focuses on everything from major rides to the specialty desserts served at the parks. Is it just one extended ad for the global Disney theme park economy? For sure, but it’s also slickly produced and pretty entertaining if you can look past all the promotion.
